What's in a seashell?

Thanks Carolyn for your thought provoking moment. What is it we hear when we listen to a seashell? The ocean or blood rushing through our ears? If it is the ocean, how did that noise get there. If it is blood, why can we hear it in a shell and not hear it all the time. This sparked so many questions for me and was a great "moment".
